Rod McKenzie has been in the broadcasting business for 35 years both at the BBC and in the commercial world.

He’s been a reporter, presenter, programme maker and executive both on radio and in television. Rod edited and ran BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat – one of the BBC’s major brands – for more than 10 years, growing audiences to record levels of 11 million listeners a week and turning it into an award winning programme. He established the Radio 1 Newsbeat website – which generated more than 2 million page impressions per week making it, at the time, the most successful news website after the BBC News homepage. As a senior executive on the BBC News management team and a board member of BBC Radio 1, he was involved in planning and executing major strategic change for over more than a decade.

Rod now runs Meadle Media, a consultancy working with brands and broadcasters offering strategic advice, journalist training, mentoring and coaching, and public relations services.
