Olivier Cachin is the most well known urban music journalist in France. He interviewed artists such as Prince, James Brown, Chuck-D, David Bowie, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Janet Jackson, Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Mariah Carey and R. Kelly.

He founded L’Affiche, the first french monthly black music magazine, in 1988, and presented the hip hop show Rapline for three years and a half in the nineties, witnessing the rise of US rap and the birth of french hip hop.

Cachin wrote fifteen books, including a best-selling biography of Michael Jackson, Pop Life, that he completed the very day Michael died.

He works on various magazines, from the monthly Rock & Folk to the weekly news magazine VSD.

He is a radio man, on the mic on Mouv radio since 2009, presently with the weekly show Sélection Rap every Friday night.
